News for Oct 2nd: Ethics

What is the basic moral orientation of ethical leaders that makes their behavior “ethical” and what are the stumbling blocks to ethical behavior? These are some of the questions that Professors Wesley Cragg and Michel Dion will answer during the Ethics workshop taking place today, October 2nd. In the afternoon Tracy-Ann Lugg (Adecco Canada Inc.), Hubert Bolduc (Cascades Inc.) and Professor Thierry C. Pauchant will share some examples of the application of ethics in business, drawing, notably, on the results of interviews with Canadian business leaders who have introduced innovative ethical practices and tools into their organizations.

News for Oct. 1st: Energy and the Environment

The Energie and the Environment workshop taking place today, October 1st from 10:30 am to 5 pm, will be led by nine speakers — researchers and practitioners. Among them will be Sanjay Sharma, dean of the John Molson School of Business, Concordia University. Mr. Sharma is known for its outstanding scholarship and academic leadership with 16 years of senior management experience with multinational corporations on three continents. Together with Timal Bansal and Guy Holburn, they “will review the areas that they believe have received academic attention and areas that require more attention”. News for Sept. 28th: Innovating Enterprises

We now have all the relevant information concerning the Innovating Enterprises: Video Gaming and the Arts workshop. It will take place on Friday October 2nd, at 9:15 am. Among the guests will be Francis Baillet, Vice President of Human Resources at Ubisoft Montréal, who will discuss innovation in management. Both sessions of the workshop will allow us to discover how creative businesses can create bridges between artists and industry, and the new management models that can be developed to stimulate creativity, a major engine of economic development.

News for Sept 22nd: Michael Bloom

The keynote speaker Michael Bloom will give some answers to the essential question ‘Are Graduates Ready for Business?’ on Thursday October 1st, 2009 during his morning presentation.

In effect, “Dr. Michael Bloom will discuss what is required for innovation and entrepreneurial excellence, identify what is needed in management to achieve such excellence, and highlight some findings from the Conference Board of Canada’s Report Card on Management, Business, and Finance Education in Canada: Are Graduates Ready for Business?“.

News for Sept 21st: Keynote Speakers

The event will take place in a week’s time and the list of speakers is now complete. You can find summaries of all the keynote speakers’ respective presentations by following the many links on our website. Recently, conference summaries for the presentation of Chad Gaffield, as well as Sheila Brown and Jean-Marie Toulouse, have been added to our website. Chad Gaffield will stress the importance of human capital in the innovation process on September 30th, while Sheila Brown and Jean-Marie Toulouse will present the conclusions of the Council of Canadian Academies’ report: “Better Research for Better Business”, on October 1st.

News for Sept. 9: Howard Thomas at the Forum

Mr Howard Thomas, Chair of the AACSB International and of the Association of Business Schools, will open a day-long series of workshops grouped under the theme “Emerging Issues”, on Friday October 2nd at 8 am. During his presentation entitled Business Schools and Management Research: Evaluation, Impact and Future Evolution, Mr Thomas will reflect on the current debates about research in management.

We are glad to announce the participation of Mr Yvan Allaire in the National Forum on Management. Professor Emeritus in Strategy at ESG-UQAM, President of the Institute for Governance of Private and Public Organizations, Mr Allaire is, according to the Financial Post Magazine, “one of the six most influential gurus in Canadian business”.
