Director's Message

It is with great pleasure that I invite you to take part in a unique event that will reflect on the impact of management and its related disciplines on the Canadian economy.
The aim of the federal government’s science policy is to develop competitive advantages in three fields: entrepreneurialism, knowledge, and human capital. For the field of management as well as for other social sciences disciplines, this policy raises some questions among which: What part do these disciplines play in the development of each of these advantages? What should their future role be with respect to the broadening of these advantages?
“Advancing Canada’s Competitive Advantage” strives to answer these questions. To this effect, we intend to examine trends and emerging issues in management research and education, the impact of research on professional practice and public policy as well as the manner in which it improves the competitiveness and prosperity of our country. To create networking opportunities, special attention will be devoted to the promotion of a multidisciplinary and multisectoral dialogue between the research community and professionals from various spheres.
This forum will centre on various fields of management but will also integrate perspectives from the related disciplines that contribute to research in business. The event will bring together several groups of participants belonging to the academic, private, public and non-profit spheres.
Please participate in advancing the country’s competitiveness and prosperity by joining your peers in this interdisciplinary forum.
Sincerely,
Jean-Marie Toulouse
Forum Director
