BIOGRAPHY……………………………………. Français

Luc Bres entered the Montreal universities joint Ph.D. program in January 2008 at HEC. He holds a top ten European Master in Management from Audencia Nantes in France. Previously he worked 2 years as a financial analyst in Germany and France for Hewlett-Packard, and as a consultant in several countries. He also holds a Research Master from Laval University, where he studied sociology and organizational theory. Within one year he had completed his Master thesis, and this experience deeply transformed him. One central question in Luc’s train of thought is the possibility of establishing common rules in a post-modern society, in an intentional and reflexive manner. In his Master thesis he studied the organization as a peculiar phenomenon of the postmodernity. His interests naturally lead him to the questions of sustainability and social responsibility.

He now shares his time between teaching, researching and consulting. He has designed and taught the introductory course in HEC’s graduate program on sustainable development and various other courses related to CSR and sustainable development. His Ph.D. research is focused on ISO 26000, a new type of standard that takes on the challenge of defining international common rules on Corporate Sustainable Development. Over the past few years he has performed several contracts within big and small organizations to reflect on their social and environmental strategy.
